HIIT Classes in Banashankari

High-intensity interval training: short bursts of hard work with controlled recovery between them. It is the most time-efficient conditioning we run, and the easiest to scale — the intervals stay the same, the effort inside them is yours.

What to expect

A session, start to finish

  1. Ten minutes of progressive warm-up — the intervals are not the place to warm up
  2. Work intervals with prescribed rest, usually across 20–30 minutes
  3. Bodyweight, kettlebell, rower and bike, varied session to session
  4. A cool-down that is actually enforced

Why intervals work

Hard efforts with incomplete recovery push your body to get better at clearing fatigue and moving oxygen. Practically, that shows up as stairs getting easier, then long walks, then everything else. It is also brutally time-efficient: a properly run 45-minute interval session does more for conditioning than an hour of steady jogging.

What “high intensity” means for a beginner

It means high relative to you. A first-timer and a regular do the same intervals in the same room and both work hard — the movements and the pace differ. The most common mistake is going too hard in week one and being unable to train for three days; the coach will hold you back, and you should let them.

Questions

HIIT — common questions

I am very unfit. Will I be able to keep up?
Yes, because the class is scaled rather than uniform. Everyone works for the same intervals; what you do inside them is set to your current level.
Is HIIT enough on its own for weight loss?
It helps, but the results people are pleased with almost always come from combining it with resistance training and a sustainable change to how they eat. We would rather set that expectation now than after two months.
